IPL Macro, a division of IPL, is currently recruiting for a high-performing Tooling Technician to join our dynamic team in Shelbyville, KY.

The Tooling Technician will maintain molds in a safe manner, perform necessary scheduled and unscheduled repairs of all tooling and tooling machinery requirements, and develop and maintain an ongoing preventative maintenance repair program. A key part of this position will be meeting established safety practices, quality standards, and optimizing machines to increase production efficiencies. General Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement and manage a preventative maintenance program ensuring an efficient and safe working environment while managing costs and utilizing the lowest reliable suppliers.
• Establish a cycle count system for scheduled repairs which will assist in limiting downtime due to unscheduled repairs while maintaining adequate levels of inventory to insure quick turn around of repairs and also working with outside contractors to meet or exceed repair guidelines for cost and repair time.
• Provide history of repairs and associated costs for scheduled/unscheduled repairs and maintain and or acquire necessary equipment to limit tooling downtime.
• Provide tooling support for daily production efforts by developing and implementing in press cleaning schedule.
• Create and update cleaning process for all tooling.
• Perform necessary in press modifications, repairs as required.
• Manage outside tooling contractors by communicating and establishing performance expectations.
• Ensure that all work is quoted for price and time.
• Track all repair costs and deliveries to evaluate outside contractors.
• Work with Macro Engineering to develop new contractor relationships.
• Work with corporate staff to ensure policies and procedures are written, reviewed, updated, properly filed and communicated.
• Highly responsive to daily operations and customer concerns.
• Revise documented procedures as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

Key Competencies:

• Extensive tooling and machining knowledge

Knowledge/Education required:

Associates degree in Engineering or related desired. (Related work experience can be substituted for educational requirement.)

Related Experience required:

• 5 years of experience in the injection mold design and processing, preferably in the plastics industry.
• Ability to work with a variety of outside contractors.

Work Conditions:

• Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds required
• Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and work boots.
• Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
• Must be flexible and adaptable to a changing environment
• Minimal travel required
